Sometimes good things come out of bad ones.
Due to Tony Iommi’s terrible disease, Black Sabbath was forced to cancel the show they had scheduled in Belgrade on the 28th of June. Although the music community is, of course saddened by these terrible events, a consolation price appeared for the Serbian people: Belgrade Calling!
For the first time, Belgrade has a top-quality music festival (rivaling the Exit festival held in the Serbian city of Novi Sad). What originally started as a replacement show for the cancelled Black Sabbath gig by Ozzy Osbourne, quickly morphed into a massive 3-day festival, with names such as Faith No More, Slash, Black Label Society, The Cult, The Darkness, The Horrors, Paradise Lost and Satyricon, to name just a few.
The first day of the Festival will be opened by the Serbian band SARS (the only Serbian act in the bill), followed by legendary hip hop band Public Enemy , British rapper Example and, headlining, pop star Jessie J . After midnight the stage will host the electronic act Orbital. This first day will also include a surprise band, the identity of which is yet to be revealed!
We know, by now you’re probably wondering why you care. Although these bands may be popular, if you’re a metalhead the truth is that perhaps they’re not your cup of tea. Well, just wait until the second day!
In what has been called “the greatest metal show in the history of Belgrade”, Ozzy Osbourne will be joined on stage by The Cult , as well as the fantastic metal bands Paradise Lost , Black Label Society and Satyricon and Sanatorium. See what we meant?
