Metal Blast prides itself in being a depository for the barely talented and for constantly lowering the standards of passable journalism.
Below you can see the motley crew that makes up this site.
Born and raised in Central Texas, audiophile from a very early age. I've been a longtime fan of all things heavy, starting from hardcore and working my way up into nearly all sub-genres of metal. My Dad gave me an appreciation of metal, blasting Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Pantera, and everything between while I was a kid. I play in a band right now, and listen to an almost unhealthy amount of music daily. Favorite genres: Doom, sludge, drone, black metal, grindcore.
His interest in metal started in his early teens, listening to bands like Iron Maiden and Metallica (coupled with an embarrassing period in which Marilyn Manson "totally represents me, man") eventually moving into the realm of power, industrial and death metal. When he's not working at Metal Blast he can be found practicing law and coming up with excuses as to why he has to miss work after going to a concert. He also dabbles as a concert photographer, you can see his sub-par work on his instagram http://instagram.com/jmetalblast
Having grown up in the vast industrial wasteland known as Detroit, my sister subjected me to multiple albums by bands such as Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Exodus, I quickly became immersed in the world of heavy metal for life. Even with my love of the tradition styles of metal, I always found myself craving something louder and heavier, thus bringing me to the much more extreme side of this genre of music. With classic bands such as Dismember, Autopsy, and Napalm Death always dominating my stereo system, I felt content to dig as deep as possible into the depths of ghastly heavy metal, and all these years later I still haven’t hit the bottom.
Born and raised in the small town of Pirot, Serbia, he's a passionate Metal and Science Fiction (read: Star Wars) fan. Some of his favorite bands include Avantasia, Faith no More, Gamma Ray and Volbeat, with Helloween being his all time favorite (although he claims he loves ALL metal and does not discriminate against any subgenre). Jovan lives in Serbia, where he studied English Language and Literature at the University of Novi Sad.
Lindsey was first exposed to metal by her father at the impressionable age of 8. It was all downhill after that. Growing up with bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Nine Inch Nails, White Zombie, Metallica, and really anything else her dad could get his hands on (and get her mom to let Lindsey hear) she was doomed for life. In her teen years she transitioned to industrial music listening to bands like KMFDM and Rammstein before steadily expanding her tastes to black and melodic metal. Lindsey currently spends the majority of her life in operating rooms as a surgical neurophysiologist or writing short stories.
Matt has been a passionate Metal fan for a little less than a decade. In that time, he's become well-versed in all sub-genres and styles, with a particular interest in Traditional Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Thrash Metal, Power Metal, Glam Metal, and NWOBHM. It's his ambition to make a career in metal journalism and to eventually host his own Hard Rock/Metal radio show.
Sam's first experience in the world of heavy metal was convincing his mother to buy him a Limp Bizkit cassette from his local Sam Goody. In his defense, he was twelve, and he soon realized the error of his ways once he started to actually listen to it. But once he impulse-bought Black Sabbath's Paranoid a few years later, his brain was set aflame with a lust for all things heavy. Sam's been on a never-ending quest for the most monstrous of riffs ever since, and while he's found a myriad of bands to worship, he will never be satisfied. When not slaving away on this site, he spends his time shackled to schoolwork and graduate research in New York City.
Hailing from the inner depths of South Wales, Sunny was raised under the tuition of '90s grunge and '70s prog, where he quickly began to nurture a love for all things experimental, dark and noisy. His favourite bands include Godflesh, Isis, Cynic, The Angelic Process, Fall of Efrafa and Tool. He is currently studying Media Communcations at Bath Spa University, and still thinks early '00s nu-metal is totally sick, man.
